R&B Singer Aaliyah’s Last Words To Her Boyfriend Are Heartbreaking

R&B singer Aaliyah died on August 25, 2001 when she was only 22 year olds. It has been more than 10 years since the singer past but her legacy remains. Many wonder how different the music scene would be now had she not passed, the ‘Princess of R&B.’ Her boyfriend at the time of her death, Damon Dash recently opened up about her final words.

A tragic plane crash in the Bahamas was the cause of her death. She flew to the caribbean island to film a music video for her song ‘Rock the Boat.’ Production finished up early so they took a smaller, twin-engine plane rather than their scheduled flight.

Aaliyah and her party flew on the small plane, but they also brought on a bunch of equipment from the shoot onto the plane. Just 200 meters from the runway, the plane crashed killing Aaliyah as well as the other 8 people on board. Later it was found that the plane was 700 pounds over its weight limit.

Damon Dash was her boyfriend at the time of her death. He is the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records (alongside Jay Z). They were not engaged at the time of her death but according to him they were planning on tying the knot. He appeared on the talk show ‘The Real’ recently and opened up about her untimely death.
