One Reddit user and Batman superfan named Rappaccini shared his theory on the site, suggesting that it was Bruce Wayne himself that killed his parents that night. Allow us to explain. The theory begins with Batman facing off against the ultimate DC evil in the future. Upon defeating it, he’s transported back in time.

However, he isn’t just transported to any place. He’s transported to the city of Gotham. After swiping some nearby clothes as his were destroyed by the Z-rays, he watches as a family emerges from the alley. It’s his parents. He was transported to the night of their death.

It’s at that moment, he realizes why he was sent back. He reaches into his coat pocket and there he finds a gun, the gun that killed his parents. ‘Without this night, there is no Batman. This is his only chance. He must choose; Break his one rule (to never kill) or be complicit in the assured annihilation of the universe.
