While there are few professional heavyweight boxers in the world that any rational person would want to go toe to toe with, Nikolai Valuev is an entirely different beast. The hulking Russian WBA champion has been dubbed the ‘Beast from the East’ and after seeing him, it’s no wonder why he has people so intimidated.

Valuev was born on August 21st, 1973 in the town of Leningrad, Russia. With a height of more than seven feet tall and a reach of about 85 inches, it’s not hard to see why he's been given nicknames such as, the ‘Beast from the East’ as well as the ‘Russian Giant.’

The former professional boxer has gone up against some of the sport’s top contenders and greatest champions and won, defeating the likes of Evander Holyfield, Owen Beck, Siarhei Liakhovich and John Ruiz. He fought his final fight against David Haye in 2009, a fight in which he lost.

However, despite falling to Haye in his final professional bout, his record speaks for itself. Valuev won 50 out of his 53 professional matches. 34 of his wins were knockout victories and of his three remaining fights, one was declared a no contest and two were losses.
